Week 67- May 21

So I am not getting transferred, but my companion is which is pretty weird. Everybody thought that I was gone even me. But I am happy to be staying. It is always tough waiting to find out who your new companion is going to be but I will find out this afternoon.

This past week has been a pretty good week. We have stayed pretty busy. Sunday was a great day. There is this older gentle man who is a non member that is friends with a member family in the ward. A couple months ago we had dinner with the members and this gentle man. We weren't able to have a lesson or teach anything but we started a good friend ship. The past couple weeks the members have been out of town but he has been coming to church by him self. Pretty incredible right? Well we have talked with him each Sunday but we haven't wanted to be to pushy about the gospel with him so we really haven't brought it up. He is a world traveler and has been to lots of cool places and while we were talking with him a couple weeks ago he talked about pictures that he has from a trip to Tahiti that he took. My companion being from there wanted to see the pictures but didn't want to invite ourselves over to see them. But after finding out that he was getting transferred we decided that we needed to ask him. We talked to him on Sunday about meeting with him before Elder T left and he said that he had to check his calendar and he would let us know. Yesterday he called us and let us know that his schedule was to full for Monday so he wasn't going to be able to meet up with us but he said that he wanted to meet up towards the end of the week even tho Elder T will be gone. He is great and hopefully we will start teaching him sometime this week. It is incredible how Heavenly Father is preparing His children.

On Friday Elder T was driving and we were heading to visit some members that live in an apartment complex in our area, and as we were driving there Elder T took a couple wrong turns and we ended up the wrong apartment complex. ( I wasn't giving him directions, because I wanted to see how well he knew the area.)  In the complex that we ended up at there are a couple people that we have talked to on the street and they said that we could come back. There was one lady  in particular that we talked that was really friendly and genuinely interested. It was about 7:45 when we were there and we here kind of hesitant to go visit her but we decided to anyway. We knocked on her door and right when she opened it she invited us in, but because of the rules we weren't able to go in. We talked on the door step for about 10 min and we set up a time to come back with another guy so we can go in. At the end of our conversation we asked if there was anything that we could do for her and she asked us if we could say a prayer so we did. We will be going back tomorrow afternoon and hopefully we will be able to teach her.

Yesterday morning Elder T and I got up really early and we went to a really good doughnut shop
That everyone loves and we bought just over a dozen doughnuts and we delivered them to each companionship in the zone as going away gift for all the missionaries getting transferred. It was really awesome. Everyone was shocked when we showed up at their door. It was really awesome. Everyone loved them. It is always great to be able to show the missionaries how grateful we are for them and their hard work. We have great missionaries in our zone!

I Love You! Have a great week!

Week 66- May 14

It was great to talk with you on Sunday. Technology is such an incredible thing. I can't believe Mothers day has already come and gone. Time is going by really fast.

There was a lot of excitement yesterday in our neighborhood. While we were out doing our morning run we saw a tower of smoke so we decided that we were going to go check it out. We ran down the road a little and saw that there was a house on fire. We sat and watched as the fire fighters put it out. It was cool to see them working at it. Watching and smelling it brought back a lot of memories from not to long ago, it was pretty weird. Later in the afternoon we were walking around there and we found out that the lady that lived there was getting evicted and she started the fire. It was a good conversation started with the people in the neighborhood, and we were able to place a couple copies of the Book of Mormon and a couple people said that we could come by sometime. They didn't seem to promising, but we'll see what happens.

On Friday night we were out visiting a referral but they weren't home so we went to our backup plan which was to walk around in the apartment complex across the street. While we were walking around there was a lady that had just gotten out of her car so we went and talked with her. While we were talking with her she told us that she was spiritual and that she has had a couple spiritual awakenings. She also told us that she was a camelion and she could change the way she looked it was pretty funny. The funniest thing she did was she told us there were ghosts and she could show us. She took off her necklace and held it out and told it which direction to move. The reason that is funny is because a couple months ago our Mission Presidents wife gave a training on focus and she taught us how we could do that.

Saturday night is transfer calls so we will see what happens, I might be getting transferred. But we'll have to wait until Saturday to find out.

I Should be sending my memory card home today so you will some pictures.

Week 65- May 7

Everything is going great! We are staying really busy and having a lot of fun. I am excited to get to Skype with you guys on Sunday!  It will probably be around 7 your time but  I am not exactly sure. This past week was full of meetings and preparing for meetings. Last Thursday we had a zone training meeting, where my companion and I gave training's on how  to plan better and also how to work more effectively with the ward council. We also presented our revised mission goal for baptisms which is 235 before June 30, because that is when the mission split is going to be happening. To present it my companion and I made a cake that was shaped like 235 it was pretty sweet. It was an awesome looking cake. Yesterday we had zone conference. It was a really good meeting President and Sister Cook along with the assistants gave the training's. It was really interesting, because I got to conduct the meeting. I was so nervous there was a lot of missionaries there. There was 3 zones. It was definitely a learning and growing experience. It was tough because I had to make sure everything ran smoothly, and luckily it did. It is pretty cool how much you learn when you are with a large group of missionaries.
The teaching here has slowed down a lot. Right now we only have one investigator and he isn't very solid. We have suspicions that he is a Jehovah witness. We have been doing a lot to try to find new people to teach. We have been trying to go by a lot of part member families and also less actives. Saturday I was on exchanges with a missionary that is here waiting on a visa. We were in my area and as we went through our day every name that we planned to stop by wasn't home it was pretty ridiculous. We were able to talk to a lot of people on the street though. We talked to this one older gentleman and as we talked with him he told us that we were wrong and that he could prove us wrong and change our minds. It was really funny how he said it. That was the third or fourth time that someone has said that to me since I have been in this area. I just laugh every time.
On Sunday we went around and delivered flowers to a few less actives that are in the ward. It was pretty cool it made them all happy. The Ward mission leaders wife makes flower arrangements for weddings and things like that and they take the flowers after the event so they gave us a few and we delivered them around the ward. It was really cool. I had the thought of mailing some home for mothers day but i figured a I better not because it wouldn't be good to get dead flowers.
Last Tuesday for Preparation day my companion and I got to go golfing. We went to this golf course called The Grand Del Mar. It is a really really nice country club. I felt like a celebrity there. There was tons of free food and drinks and whatever you wanted. It was a lot of fun. It was my companions first time so it was pretty entertaining.
Love You!

Week 64- April 29

Everything is going pretty great down here. The work is going pretty good right now. We are seeing miracles all the time it is pretty awesome. This past week was a good week. Working with Elder Tetuanui has been a lot of fun.

Friday was a great day. We had the first mission leader council. This took the place of the zone leader council we were having. Now there are sisters that attend the meeting. they are called sister training leaders. With all the sister missionaries coming out these sisters are going to be going around the mission with all the sisters to give them additional training. It is pretty sweet, it was really cool to have them in the meeting that brought a lot of good insight. Friday night was an awesome night. We were walking through this apartment complex and there was this guy sitting on his porch smoking so we started talking to him. We sat down on his porch and we talked about the Book of Mormon and the plan of salvation. We gave him a copy and asked if we could come back, we set an appointment for the next day. We went Saturday and taught him the whole plan of salvation and we invited him to be baptized. He said that he would if he found out the Book of Mormon was true. It was so cool he has a lot of great questions that no one has been able to answer and we could answer them all. We are going to be meeting with him again to night so hopefully we can set a date for baptism.

Sunday night we had a missionary fireside in the stake. Elder Dellenbach an Emeritis general authority and previous general young men president came and spoke. it was a great fireside. He told about his experience in helping the church get started in Europe it was neat.

Yesterday, I was on exchanges with the assistants. Elder Knavel and I went up to a zone training meeting in Temecula. That was so cool. Going back up there brought back so many good memories. I really like Temecula. We went to a Taco shop that was in my area for lunch. It was so awesome.

Last Wednesday I went on exchanges with the spanish elders in my zone. That was a lot of fun I couldnt understand a word that was said, but but the end of the exchange I knew what they were talking about it was really cool! I really want to learn spanish now.
