Week 63- April 22

This past week has been great! Everything here is going pretty well. Working with Elder Tetuanui is a lot of fun. We are basically laughing all day everyday, it is pretty awesome. Its a lot of fun because he is still learning english and there are things that he doesnt understand so I can explain and make them whatever I want them to be. But then we get the dictionary out and I teach him what they really mean. Everybody loves him, and him being from Tahiti is a conversation starter and it has helped a lot. The teaching here has slown down a lot but we are working on bringing it back up. right now we only have one real investigator so we are trying to find more.

Wednesday night was a pretty interesting night. I was on Exchanges with an Elder that has only been out for a couple of weeks and we were visiting this one part member family and the husband who isnt the member answered the door and was trying to get rid of us because they had company over but we continued to talk with him and he ended up inviting us in. We met the member wife and talked for a little while. When we were getting ready to leave we asked if we could come back and the non member said that we could if we wanted to argue/ debate with him. It is so funny when people want to argue about it. I am very fortunate I havent run into to many people that want to argue about it.

On Friday night we were visiting a name that the Bishop had given us and while we were walking up to the house the neighbors were outside so we went to talk with them. When we walked up we asked if they new their neighbors and the lady got all upset and offended and wouldnt let us talk. It was so funny because we just asked if she new her neighbor and she went off on how other missionaries asked the same question. When we got back to our car we just laughed. It is so interesting how easily people offend themselves.

Love You!

Week 62- April 16

This past week has been a pretty awesome. Everything is going pretty great! I now have a new companion. His name is Elder Tetuanui, he is from Tahiti. He's a pretty cool guy. I lived with him while I was serving in Temecula. I was so shocked when President Cook announced that he was going to be my companion. I was worried who I was going to get. he is so funny, and everyone loves him. It is a lot of fun when we meet people or go to members homes, because we both have tough names. We are basically Elder T and Elder R.

This past week I have been helping Elder Tetuanui get to know the area. We have been visiting a lot of members introducing him. We have been doing a lot of organizing also to get the work here running a lot smoother. There is one family in the ward that is a part member family that is Polynesian that we have been trying to work with but it hasn't worked out. On Saturday we went and visited them and the actually let us in and we talked with them for an hour, and we also set up a return appointment. I give all the credit to elder T. A lot of our investigators have been out of town so we haven't been able to do much teaching, hopefully this week is better.

Thursday night we went out on some visits with the stake President. He is a solid guy. he is so missionary minded, It is his first priority. He was a mission president in Spain so he knows all about the work and how to best do it. Now we just need to get all the wards on board. Its pretty crazy, because we talk with him all the time, and he also talks to other missionaries in the Stake.

Yesterday we were walking down the road, and there was this guy getting out of his car so we went over and started talking with him. Come to find out he is a professional heavy weight boxer. His name is Trent Rawlins. It was pretty cool we sat down on his front porch and talk with him for a little while about the Bible and the Book of Mormon. He said that we could come by when ever and talk more with him.

I don't really know what has happened with that guy that wanted the Book of Mormon. he doesn't live in my area, but I am going to have to follow up with the missionaries there to see how it is going with him.

Week 61- April 9th

This week has been quite the week. I really haven't spent anytime in my own area. From Tuesday night to Thursday night I was down in Del Mar on Exchanges with one of the new missionaries. This was the second exchange with this companionship, which isnt normal. We did it to give some more training and to help them with the work. It was pretty cool to be down there. We saw a lot of miracles. we were walking down the road on Wednesday afternoon and this guy pulled up next to us and said that he needed a Book of Mormon so we handed him one and he drove away. About a half hour later we stopped by a member family to see if we could do anything thing for them and to see if they were working with anyone. The Member said they were and she took us to her neighbors and introduced us to them. Come to find out it was the guy that wanted a Book of Mormon and his wife. So we set up an appointment to go teach them sometime this week. It was pretty awesome!

On Friday I was down in Encinitas with the missionaries there because my companion had to go to a meeting up in vista. He is going to be training a new missionary. I am staying in La Costa but I will be getting a new companion this afternoon.

General Conference was so awesome! I really Enjoyed it! Every single Talk was really good. This Conference was loaded. I really Enjoyed Elder Hollands talk He always throws down which is really cool. President Monsons on Sunday morning was also very good. I Love Conference and now we wait another 6 months to have It again. I cant wait to get the Ensign to read the talks again. Its always weird not going out to grab Ice cream with Dad and the boys after Priesthood session. After priesthood session here the ward has a Taco dinner. It was pretty cool, but not as cool as Ice Cream.

We have been teaching a lot here in the La Costa ward. It is pretty crazy, we have had 10 baptisms in the Past 4 months and before that they had maybe 10 in the past 4 years. It is really cool to see all the people that are being prepared. We have a pretty good size teaching pool right now which is pretty cool and we are continuing to add to it. We picked up a new investigator yesterday which was pretty cool. He loves the Family values of the church and he wants to come check it out so he will be coming to church on Sunday.

I Am pretty nervous for this afternoon, because I will be the one running the whole zone, it is going to be pretty crazy. All the responsibility gets to be placed on my shoulders now, But I am ready to grab the Bull by the horns. It is going to be a great next transfer.

Week 60- April 2nd

This week has been pretty sweet! There have been a lot of good things going on. Yes you are right we are still really busy but that is okay, because there is no room to get distracted with anything. I am doing pretty good, life is great!

Last Saturday we had another baptism in the ward that I am serving in. This was an interesting situation. The family is from Peru so they don't speak very much english. The spanish elders that cover the whole stake were the ones that taught them, and we cordinated getting them to church. It was pretty interesting, because we had to put the whole thing together but we really didn't know anything about them. The baptism was for the 3 sons. The mom and dad will hopefully be baptized soon but they need to get married first. It was a pretty interesting baptism. It was all in spanish so I had no idea what was going on, but I felt the spirit. It was really cool. It is always great to see people enter the waters of Baptism.

Friday we had Zone Leader Council. It is a meeting that all the zone leaders go to with the assistants and President Cook. They give trainings on things that we need to train the missionaries on. This time they trained on invitations. They also trained things that we need to do to be good zone leaders. They are always really good meetings, I always learn a lot. Yesterday my companion and I had our zone training meeting. That is basically the meeting that we take everything we learned at zone leader council and train all the missionaries in the zone.

Easter was great. Sacrament meeting was really good. One of the members that spoke gave a really good talk about Christ. All the music was really cool. We didnt really do anything special, we stopped by a lot of people that we havent been able to catch home. We caught a couple of them. It was really funny, that night we were at a less actives house having a lesson and while we were sitting there in the front room talking a friend of the family came in completely drunk. He talked to us for about 20 min about basically nothing and he told us that we were doing a good thing. It was really funny, because it broke the ice and we were able to actually have a good lesson with them.

Sounds like Easter was good! I did get the Package. Thank You! It was a cool little package it had some Cookies and candy in it along witha tie and a stuffed monkey. Thats pretty awesome that the Smarts are in town, tell them I said HI. Did you do anything exciting on Spring Break? Thank you for getting that package for me!

So yesterday we got a Referral through the referral system for a guy that wanted a Copy of the Book of Mormon so he can read it and then meet with missionaries. Last night a couple of hours after we got it we were at dinner with a family in the ward and in our lesson we talked about missionary work and they told us to by that same name. Inspired I think yes. We Will hopefully be staring to teach him this week.

So transfers are a week from today so we will see what happens. I am pretty sure I am going to be staying and I think my companion is going to get transferred, but we will wait and see what happens. We will find out on Saturday night.

Thanks for everything Mom! I Love You!
