Week 72- June 24

I know this is a little weird that I am emailing today, but this week is a little different here in the mission. Tomorrow we are having a mission wide transfer meeting because of all the changes. This will be a time for all of us to say goodbye to President and Sister Cook. It is such a bummer that they are leaving they have truly been great. It is going to be weird next Tuesday getting a new President but it will be good. Since this is a transfer meeting that means that Saturday night we got transfer calls. We received the call and I will be staying in La Costa for another 6 weeks. This is my second 7 and 1/2 month area. That means 3 areas in 17 months. It is kind of weird but I don't mind it at all. There is a lot of good things going on here and I am glad I still get to be a part of them.

This past week was full of excitement. We have been busy figuring things out for the transfer meeting tomorrow, like how we are going to be getting all the missionaries from the zone there and also their stuff. We also had to coordinate with the zone for a cake that they are making for president Cook. We had to come up with a saying and a scripture reference as a zone. We came up with "praise to the man" and the scripture reference was D&C 75: 3-5. Wednesday morning we got a call from the mission office about a complaint they had received from a member of one of the wards in the stake about the missionaries pounding on their door after 9 and trying to open the door. We were asked to find out what really happened so we called the member to get their story and then we called the and talked with the missionaries. Come to find out the story was exaggerated and it really didn't happen. I kind of felt like a private investigator.

Wednesday night we had a pretty interesting lesson with one of our investigators. We taught the law of chastity. That is kind of an awkward lesson to teach, but hey its all part of the job. We used one of the Mormon messages which helped a lot. We have invited her to come to church and we have been doing things to help her get there, but she still hasn't made it. It is really disappointing to not have her come with us because I know it will bless her and her daughters lives. She has had a rough life and since we have started meeting with her I have seen the Gospel bless her life so much. she has changed a lot in just 4 lessons. Our lessons went from her going off on tangents to her actually focusing and being able to feel the spirit. It is incredible to see how the Gospel is such a blessing.

Thursday I was able to interview a lady in the YSA ward here for baptism. It was a pretty cool interview, she basically talked the whole time about her conversion story. She came to church for the first time with her boyfriend who is a member. She started meeting with the missionaries and everyone thought she was doing it for him but 3 weeks ago they broke up and she is still preparing for baptism on the 29th. She has had a pretty rough past but she has become converted to the gospel and it has changed her life.It is really awesome to get to hear people conversion stories and how they met with the missionaries.

Saturday we helped a family in the ward pack up and get ready to move. This family is from South Jordan Utah and they have only lived here for about 2 years. They are moving back to South Jordan. They are a part member family that we have been working with the whole time I have been here. The husband and the 2 kids aren't baptized. I now have some work ahead of me when I get home. They are a great family.
Were you able to watch that world wide broadcast yesterday? It was so incredible. The way missionary work is changing and I get to be a part of it. I love being a missionary. This is a great time to be in the Lords vineyard. Heavenly Fathers work is going forward like never before. All the things they talked about in the broadcast was what we have been talking about here. At the end of it the stake president here got up and bore a powerful testimony about the work and how we are going to see so many blessings from heeding the council from the Prophets and Apostles. There are going to be a lot of changes but they are going to be great. I am so excited!
My testimony has grown so much. I love this work so much! I Have seen Heavenly Fathers hand in it helping me in all that I do. Everyday it gets better and better.
Thanks for everything you do for me Mom, I Love You!!
Love, Elder RINDLISBACHER
