In January your son and his friends were visiting people's apartments where we lived (here in Southern California). They happened to walk up the stairs just behind the guy who was coming to help us move some heavy furniture to our new living situation, so seeing them in their ties and nice shoes I joked that they were just in time to help move us. I thought it was funny because they were all clean and tidy and obviously had other business. Imagine how I felt when these three kind young men looked at me without a bit of irony and said they'd be glad to help, what can they do?
After they established that they were serious, I pointed out the pieces of furniture we were trying to get down to the truck. They put down their books, grabbed items and started carrying them down to the truck until we didn't have anything more to give them. As a mom I thought how proud their moms would feel to see them in action so I had my daughter take a few photos, and one of the boys gave me his mom's (your) email address. I hope this doesn't get stuck in your Spam folder!
Both my daughter and I were inspired and touched by how they came when we were in a position of real need. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to send these photos. Please thank the young men again for us and tell them how much their service meant to us. I laughed when they first said they would help, and I laughed again when they said that they end up helping people with moves quite often! They are a credit to their faith and gave us a much needed morale boost along with the help moving.
All the best to you and your family.
Kind regards,
Penny Shays
